WIP Week: Promethium Reactorum XIII

CUTTING PLASTIC! I promised in an earlier post that I would share my trick for cutting plastic terrain parts. This is especially important for complex connections between board layouts. For the Promethium Reactorum, I had several complicated connections and I wanted to make them fit like puzzle pieces, or at least as close to this ideal as possible. It starts with a simple part like the one above. I used this extra part as an example, and so I wasn't especially careful, but the process is exactly as described below. The most important tool you will need is a reciprocating handheld saw like the Milwaukee Hackzall. The blade I use is very short (2.5") and can be used for anything from wood to metal (I've even used it for cutting the copper pipe for the Reactorum table). Hero Quest Finally Arrives!

For many of us, Hero Quest was the beginning of our hobby addiction. After many, many years, Hasbro and Avalon Hill Games has finally released an updated version of the classic. I just got my hands on my new copy, and I'm really impressed! The Dragon and gargoyle (the original Bloodthirster!) are very impressive models. The plastic is kind of soft, but seems to be very durable. I'm not sure how it will take paint, but I suspect it will be quite fine. The game and all the extras arrive assembled and in special packaging. I actually was very happy to not have to assemble the models. I can get right to painting. Lots of new female characters that weren't in the original. The models and character cards look fantastic. I'm again very impressed with the production value. The best part of all! I think the furniture holds a special spot in the heart of anyone who remembers the original, and the new upgraded furniture really improves on it. The original had plastic features

Promethium Reactorum (3 Year Project!) To Done!

Forge World Display Team, Here I come! If you've followed my blog over the past 3 years, you may have seen some work in progress pictures of my 12' x 4' cyclical Warhammer 30K/40K battlefield. To complete this project, I have had to learn how to cast, build, airbrush, cut citadel plastic, make large scale washes, and more. Well, I am excited to tell you that over the next several posts (including today) I will be highlighting the COMPLETED project! Today, let's start with an aerial view showing the 6 tiles, each of which is 2' x 4' in dimension. The board - which totals 48 square feet - can be arranged in six configurations since every tile connects seamlessly to the next tile. By taking the last tile as the first, they can be easily arranged with different features at different points of the battlefield.
