WIP Week: Promethium Reactorum XIII

CUTTING PLASTIC! I promised in an earlier post that I would share my trick for cutting plastic terrain parts. This is especially important for complex connections between board layouts. For the Promethium Reactorum, I had several complicated connections and I wanted to make them fit like puzzle pieces, or at least as close to this ideal as possible. It starts with a simple part like the one above. I used this extra part as an example, and so I wasn't especially careful, but the process is exactly as described below. The most important tool you will need is a reciprocating handheld saw like the Milwaukee Hackzall. The blade I use is very short (2.5") and can be used for anything from wood to metal (I've even used it for cutting the copper pipe for the Reactorum table). Promethium Reactorum (3 Year Project!) To Done!

Forge World Display Team, Here I come! If you've followed my blog over the past 3 years, you may have seen some work in progress pictures of my 12' x 4' cyclical Warhammer 30K/40K battlefield. To complete this project, I have had to learn how to cast, build, airbrush, cut citadel plastic, make large scale washes, and more. Well, I am excited to tell you that over the next several posts (including today) I will be highlighting the COMPLETED project! Today, let's start with an aerial view showing the 6 tiles, each of which is 2' x 4' in dimension. The board - which totals 48 square feet - can be arranged in six configurations since every tile connects seamlessly to the next tile. By taking the last tile as the first, they can be easily arranged with different features at different points of the battlefield. KitBash! Mechanicum Assassin of the Ordo Hypotheosis

I haven't been able to paint as much as I'd like (although a lot of model-building has been going on, more on that later!), but I found out that my local Warhammer store is hosting a painting competition. One of the categories is a kitbashing category that has been really popular at these periodic painting competitions. So, I decided to give it a try. I have until May 21! Let's get started. I raided my bits box and was able to find all sorts of parts that came together quite nicely. My idea was to build and paint a mechanicum assassin. Some of the parts are based on typical mechanicum models, but others are very unique GW miniatures that are actually pretty hard to find (comment below if you can spot all of the parts and where they come from). I've only undercoated the model and sprayed over Tamiya matte black with Citadel Grey Seer (spray).
