Maledictum Mendica: The Cursed Wretch

"Those that tread softly to war deserve an eternity of silence and darkness."

- Princeps Adorjan of the Legio Phasmatis

Reborn to the Legio Phasmatis during the late months of the Cataclysm of Iron, the warmaster titan Maledictum Mendica was cursed to pursue a vendetta lasting nearly six millennia. What transpired during the Cataclysm, and how Mendica was felled was a tale long forgotten by nearly all within the Imperium. Yet, those knowledgable among the senior adepts of the Viatrix hold that Mendica fell victim to something more nefarious than conventional death.

On the battle fields of Arachnus, it is rumored that Mendica's hewn torso was discovered in a vast pool of ectoplasmic filamentation, his remnants half in this world, and half without. Upon the wreckage spun a gateway into the Warp, a vortex of lightning and dazzling otherworldly brilliance, one of the first victims of the heretical blaspheme class vortex missiles employed across the region. What his princeps witnessed, and how the ordeal would scar his machine spirit was not fully understood. As part of the recovery effort, the secretive group of magi from the Viatrix would require sanctioned psychic wards of unknown provenance.

In the years that followed the Siege of Terra, Maledictum Mendica would go on to prove his unwavering loyalty to the Imperium of Man. The princeps of this mighty engine wore a badge of honor that none other in the Legio could wear. To merge with the machine spirit of Mendica was to give in fully to ancient knowledge of the warp and its residents.
