Ira Deorum Walks

What happened underfoot meant nothing to Princeps Adorjan. He could feel the energy pulsing from the reactors, and then moving up into his spine, across his shoulders and onto his back. He was the Machine and the Machine was God. It was Ira Deorum who spoke first. As Adorjan engaged his laser blasters, his physical body let out a garbled groan and his lips twitched. Yet, from the mouth of Ira Deorum was heard the most haunting of songs as her war horns brought terror to even the most resolute on the battlefield.

Her prey had been sighted.

The ground trembled underneath as Ira Deorum took her first shots. Within moments, as shields flared, and lightning danced across the battlefield, the enemy had turned to meet Ira face-to-face, plasma annihilator glowing with bound rage.

The two Gods squared off against the only viable opponent on the battlefield: each other.

Ira had cornered her prey, yet the enemy was resolute. Void shields flared, reactors hummed greedily, and the battle raged underfoot. Any pause that their presence had brought to troops fighting down below was quickly gone, yet the groans of mechanized joints and the craters left at every step forced the embattled infantry into new battle lines. Those fighting below made way for the clash overhead. There was no other choice.

God battled God, and each was the other's match. Thunder and lightning like the end of days, this was a war of attrition and neither would give the edge.
