WIP Week: Promethium Reactorum X

Test fitting and getting it all together! The old meets the new, I decided to fit all 12 feet of the reactorum down on the living room floor.  I now have two 6' work benches constructed to move these into the garage for painting.  It's been interesting so far, as I have been able to assemble the panels largely one at a time, first roughing out the shape and then going back to build in details all over one at a time. This will all have to change for painting, since I need the colors and textures to be seamless across the 6 panels.

Below: a shot of the reactorum in full detail. Before painting, I added a fresh coat of flat black Rustoleum so that the black paint is covering all the recently added details. I then used a little bit of flat brown spray to give some tone to the rocky areas. This table is huge, and will be fit even for ira deorum.

While building and assembling all the panels together, I realized that the Kill Team board size is nearly the same as (but slightly less than) the 24" x 48" panels, and so each can be used as a Kill Team board. This could be very cool for a large group gaming session or tournament with 6 simultaneous games.  Two panels together is still 4' x 4', which could also be used for three simultaneous small skirmish games in 30k/40k.

The next stages will be to finish out the building and texturing on the 3 new tiles, and then it's off to priming and painting.

  1. There's a lot of Hype regarding the new Kill Team. Your friends will be privileged to play on these tables.

I can see what you're doing for the edges/ corners. It is a significantly more complex process than most people realise. I still haven't finished mine as i've complicated matters by making it double sided and completely modular.

Your Blog is very inspirational, thanks again.
