What was found on Ithacus Terrum in 105 664.M41 was not of this galaxy. And what transpired there in just over 23 Terran days was systematically expunged from all records. Although it was imperative to warn the Imperium of this new alien menace, the truth of those 23 days would haunt those who witnessed the Onslaught until their death. If the truth of what occurred on Ithacus Terrum were revealed, it would immediately implicate the Dark Angels chapter in one of the most heretical acts in recent Imperial history. This alien menace would be left unreported.
Later to be discovered in the Ultramar system, the alien species found on Ithacus Terrum had not previously been encountered in Imperial space. On Ithacus Terrum, the largest populated planet in the local system, the creature known as the the Horror preyed on the mechanicum thralls for several weeks before the distress call was officially received and recognized by the Dark Angels. Somehow though, the Deathwing arrived on Ithacus Terrum several days earlier than should have been possible given the location of the nearest Dark Angels battle group, and they arrived in pursuit of something, or someone.
The Horror of Ithacus Terrum was not what brought the Deathwing to the Ithacus Terrum system, but the events that took place would challenge the Astartes of the First Company to question their own allegiance to the Emperor of Mankind.
